Snowflake, Arizona
Snowflake is located in east-central Arizona, 30 miles south of Holbrook on State Route 77. The Mogollon Rim to the south and the White Mountains to the west form a barrier that protects the community from severe weather and also creates a semi-arid climate. Named after its founders Mormon apostle Erastus Snow and William Flake, Snowflake is at an elevation of 5,600 feet in a broad, lush valley fed by Cottonwood and Silver Creeks and lies in a surrounding area of great contrasts: barren desert to the north and heavily treed mountain ranges immediately to the south.
